We are excited to say that we will not be freezing our fannies this winter at NorCal! Dave Werner of CrossFit Seattle turned us on to these Dayton heaters when we were visiting his place last March. Not forced air, but radiant. They are much more efficient and work beautifully. Our previous location had a Reznor, a forced air type of industrial heater. It worked well, but was super loud. These on the other hand barely make a sound! Super stoked!

Even Kayden approves!

These heaters are amazing! I love them…and what a cute little guy.
My friend just e-mailed me a video this morning that go’s good with the last statement in your post. This timing is too good!

What is the model number on those heaters?
Hey Saul!

Did you install them yourselves or have a company install them? It looks like they use gas? I am freezing and the heater we just bought isn’t cutting it…..this looks like a great option and the landlord said they would pay! Can you email me additional details on what you ordered and from who? There are a million choices online.
Thanks!

Hey Audra!
We had a local heating and air company do the installation. They are Dayton Brand…here’s a link to more info:

Ah! We use these at the car wash. They’re great and hold up well.
Thanks Nikki. Will be looking into this type of heating for our box in Chicago.
Hi Nicki – just wanted to say thanks for this blog. You teach me beyond just the words you type – your demeanour and grace are evident.
I just read Robb’s post that your affiliation has been taken away, and while I can’t possibly know the whole story, I’m really disappointed and saddened. I hope that you keep up this blog, whatever your course of action may turn out to be.
Thanks for the support Chris!
Hey Nicki,
I was wondering if you could provide some info on these heaters. I’m talking to a contractor about getting my box up and running and he was stunned at my request NOT to have an HVAC. I said “Meh… its Crossfit… They’ll get used to the cold.”
My space is about 4400 with ZERO insulation and a Quonset hut (read: airplane hangar) in the back which is impossible to effectively heat. Would you recommend these as far more cost efficient than a full blown HVAC? Thanks and I love your blog!!!
I’m not super well versed in all things HVAC…but I do know these heaters are efficient, and do just the trick. They take the edge off of frozen pullup bars and frozen barbells and make it feel warmer inside the building than it is outside which is really what clients want. It doesn’t need to be balmy…folks just don’t need icicles growing from their noses
